November marks my 1st anniversary at Kirvin Doak Communications. When I look back on the last year, I can’t help but feel a surge of emotions. Not only have I come so far in my personal life, I’ve also grown so much in my work life. This year has been full of changes, challenges and turning points and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I can’t think of a better place to be a publicist than in the eccentric city of Las Vegas. I’ve seen 300 chefs break the Guinness World Record for the most wine bottles opened simultaneously, held hands with Kelly Rowland as I walked her down the red carpet and commemorated the centennial of the most famous ship ever, RMS Titanic. I’ve watched (very nervously) the great Eli Roth carry a chainsaw down the red carpet at the opening of Goretorium, Vegas icon Wayne Newton judge our office costume contest and Wolfgang Puck celebrate his 20th anniversary at Spago.
Yes, these were amazing highlights during my first year, but nothing can compare to the relationships I’ve made. When my personal life was crashing, my Kirvin Doak family helped me pick up the pieces. Despite living more than 200 miles away from my parents and sister, I’ve never felt alone. I don’t think I could have accomplished as much as I have this year without the amazing support that I’ve received. Kirvin Doak has introduced me to some of the hardest working, determined, intelligent and sincere people I’ve ever met. I feel incredibly lucky that they surround me on a daily basis.
As the year comes to an end and I reflect on my time at Kirvin Doak, I feel extremely blessed. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
