Roughly 12 weeks ago, my life changed forever. Coffee is my new best friend, sleep is something I dream of on a daily basis, baby vomit is my newest perfume scent and I can change a dirty diaper half asleep. Roughly 12 weeks ago, my life changed forever…and I wouldn’t change it for anything!

Emry Kathleen was born on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 5:50 p.m., weighing a whopping 6 lbs 13 oz and measuring at 18 inches long. You know when people say you will never love anything more than your own children? Well, those people are so right. I can’t explain it, but when you become a mommy or daddy, you see the world in a whole different light. You will do the most outrageous things to protect your baby and become the most paranoid person ever! Trust me.

Now, let’s talk about what this post is actually about! Working and being a mom. Probably one of the toughest things is leaving your baby in the morning to then pick her up at daycare only to find her fast asleep or not interested in your presence. Holy heartbreaking! However, working and being the coolest mom ever ( J ) is so rewarding. When Emry wakes up in the middle of the night to eat her bottle, looks me straight in the eyes and is full of smiles and giggles, being away during the day doesn’t seem all that bad.

So, if you are wondering if being a mom and working full time is hard work, the answer is ABSOLUTELY! Am I exhausted all the time? Yes. Do I wish I could take a nap under my desk some days? OMG yes! (Shhh, don’t tell the boss man)! But, I chose this life for myself. I love working. I went to school for six long years to work and that’s what I am here to do. I hope I inspire Emry as much as my mom inspired me growing up. She went back to school to become a teacher when I was around seven years old and worked her you know what off to fulfill that dream. She is the hardest working woman I know and I hope Emry can say that about me one day.

Oh, and if you’re wondering how I am such a cool mom? I don’t wear mom jeans…I ROCK fanny packs! (From Victoria’s Secret…give me some credit)! J
